Product description

Black Shower Waste 90mm – Kartell K-Vit Fast Flow Trap with a Black Cover

A black shower is only finished when the plughole matches. This black shower waste puts a black cover where most trays still have a bright chrome disc — the one fitting left over when the valve, the rail and the screen have all gone dark. It is a small part, but it is in the middle of the floor and it is the first thing the eye lands on after the shower head.

Underneath the cover it is the same Kartell fast flow waste and trap as the chrome version: a single body that holds a water seal against drain smells and turns sideways into the waste pipe, rated at up to 32 litres a minute. Only the cover is black; the body sits out of sight beneath the tray and is white plastic.

Black needs a little more care than chrome in Irish hard-water areas. It will not show fingerprints, but dried limescale shows up as a pale ring on a dark surface. A squeegee or quick wipe after showering prevents it, and a soft damp cloth removes it — never limescale remover or abrasive cream, which dull a coated finish for good.

It fits trays with a 90 mm waste hole, the standard on modern stone resin and acrylic trays. Check yours before ordering: an older tray with a 40–50 mm hole needs a smaller waste altogether.

Features & Benefits

  • Black shower waste — a dark cover to match black valves, rails and screen profiles.
  • Waste and trap in one body — holds a water seal, no separate U-bend needed.
  • Fast flow rated up to 32 L/min for mixer and pumped showers.
  • Cleans from above after fitting, so hair can be cleared without getting under the tray.
  • For 90 mm tray holes on most modern trays.
  • Compression side outlet for standard 40 mm (1½″) shower waste pipe.
  • EN 1329-1:2014 — Kartell's self-declared compliance with the European waste pipework standard.
  • 1 year Kartell guarantee.

Why Choose a Black Shower Waste?

Because a black shower with a chrome plughole looks unfinished, and the waste is the cheapest part of the shower to get right. On a white tray the black cover reads as a deliberate detail; on a slate-effect or dark grey tray it almost disappears, which is often the look people are after.

It matches our matt black slide rail shower kit. If your shower fittings are chrome, the chrome version is the same waste with a polished cover, and there is also a brass cover for warmer schemes.

FAQ
How do I know my tray takes a 90 mm waste?
Lift the old cover and measure the hole in the tray itself, not the cover - covers are wider than the hole. A 90 mm hole is standard on modern trays. If yours measures around 40 to 50 mm it is an older or compact tray, and this waste will not fit it.
Will a black cover show limescale?
More than chrome does, yes. Black hides fingerprints and soap smears, but hard-water deposits dry as a pale ring on a dark surface. A squeegee or quick wipe after showering prevents it. To remove marks, use a soft damp cloth and mild soap - never limescale remover or abrasive cream, which permanently dull a coated finish.
Is the whole waste black?
No - only the cover you see in the tray is black. The body and outlet are white plastic, which is normal for shower wastes because they sit hidden beneath the tray once it is installed.
Will it match a black shower kit?
It pairs naturally with our matt black slide rail shower kit. Black finishes vary a little between manufacturers in sheen, so if you are matching fittings from another brand, compare them in daylight.
Do I need a separate trap?
No. The waste body is also the trap: it holds a water seal that blocks drain smells, and its side outlet connects straight to standard 40 mm shower waste pipe.
Is fitting it a DIY job?
Fitting a shower waste is straightforward when the tray is going in, because the waste is sealed into the tray and connected to the pipe before the tray is bedded down. Replacing one in a tray that is already fixed and tiled in is harder, because the connection underneath is out of reach. If that is your situation, a plumber will save you a lifted tray.
