Matching finishes across the room
What makes a kitchen look planned rather than assembled is repetition. Matt black hides water spotting and fingerprints far better than chrome and suits darker worktops and black sinks. Polished chrome is the easiest to match to existing fittings and the most forgiving to replace later. Brushed brass reads warmer and more premium against oak, cream and deeper greens. Brushed steel disappears into a stainless sink and stainless appliances, where polished chrome reads brighter and slightly out of place.
Whichever you pick, carry it past the tap. A black tap above a bright copper radiator tail is the mismatch people notice, and pipe covers are a five-minute job.
