Choosing a kitchen tap
Most Irish kitchen sinks take a single tap hole, which means a mono mixer. Beyond that the choice comes down to how you use the sink. A pull-out spray mixer earns its extra cost if you rinse large pans, wash vegetables or clean the bowl itself often. A fixed swan neck mono mixer is slimmer, cheaper and has fewer parts to fail — the better choice for a utility room or a second sink.
On finish: matt black hides water spotting and fingerprints far better than chrome and suits darker worktops and black sinks. Polished chrome is the easiest to match to existing fittings and the most forgiving to replace later. Brushed brass is warmer and reads as more premium, and works well against oak, cream and deeper greens.
