Brushed Brass Pull Out Kitchen Tap – Gold Spring Neck with Two-Mode Spray

Spring-neck taps usually come in chrome, because the shape started life over catering sinks. In brushed brass the same coil turns warm and deliberate — a gold pull out kitchen tap that looks chosen for the room rather than borrowed from a restaurant. At 520 mm tall it is the first thing anyone sees at the sink, so it suits a kitchen that already has something gold to answer it: cabinet handles, a pendant light, a brass sink.

Lift the spray head from the holder on its side arm and the spring neck flexes after it on the hose, so you can rinse a colander in the corner of the bowl or fill a stockpot standing on the drainer. A switch on the head changes between a filling stream and a rinsing spray, and one quarter-turn lever looks after flow and temperature.

The body is brass, stainless steel and zinc, and the brushed grain softens reflections so fingerprints and water spots show far less than on polished gold. It is a brass kitchen tap built around the spray head rather than the spout, and it fits an ordinary Irish kitchen through a single tap hole with no new pipework.

Before ordering, two checks. The Contra is rated from 1 bar to 3 bar and is not suitable for gravity-fed systems — it needs a combi boiler or pressurised mains to drive the spray. And it rises 520 mm above the worktop, so measure up to any window sill, shelf or extractor first.

Features & Benefits

  • Brushed brass finish – a warm gold with a fine grain that hides marks better than a polished surface.
  • Gold spring neck – the professional-kitchen outline in a finish that belongs in a home.
  • Pull-out spray head – lifts from a side-arm holder and parks back in it, so the hose never hangs loose.
  • Stream and spray – switch on the head between filling and rinsing.
  • Quarter-turn single lever – one-handed control over flow and temperature.
  • 35 mm ceramic cartridge – a smooth action with no washers to wear.
  • Flow straightener – an even stream with less splash.
  • 220 mm reach, 520 mm height – generous room under the head for large pans.
  • Deck mounted, single tap hole – 600 mm G ½" flexible tails supplied.
  • 2 year manufacturer guarantee – handled by us in Ireland.

Why Choose a Brushed Brass Pull Out Kitchen Tap?

Because gold on a spring tap is unexpected, and that is the appeal. Against white quartz it warms the whole sink run; against navy, green or charcoal units it is the detail people notice first. Brass does want company — one other warm metal in the room — or it can look like the odd one out. Treat the finish gently: warm soapy water, a soft cloth and a dry-off. Limescale remover, descaler, bleach sprays and abrasive pads damage a coated finish, and that damage spreads rather than staying put. Our brushed brass guide explains why brushed copes with Irish hard water better than polished.

For a spray head with a quieter outline, the Cato in brushed brass has a lower curved spout with the head built into its tip. For a fixed spout in a gold tone, the Tivoli in brushed brass, the richer Tivoli in brushed gold and the twin-lever Stroud in brushed brass all need 1 bar too; on a gravity-fed supply the Adria in brushed brass runs from 0.5 bar. For boiling water and a spray head in one gold tap, see the Cygne in brushed brass. The Contra also comes in matt black and brushed steel.

FAQ
Is it suitable for a gravity-fed system?
No. ELLSI rates it from 1 bar to 3 bar and lists it as not suitable for gravity-fed systems, so it needs a combi boiler or pressurised mains. If your hot water comes from a cylinder in the hot press, the Adria in brushed brass keeps the brass finish and runs from 0.5 bar.
Brushed brass or gold - which is this?
Both words describe it. Manufacturers call the finish brushed brass; most people searching for it type gold kitchen tap. It is a soft, warm yellow with a satin grain rather than a mirror shine. If you want a fuller, more saturated yellow, compare it with the Tivoli in brushed gold, which is a deeper tone.
Is the ETAL Contra a shop's own brand?
No. ETAL is ELLSI's own registered trademark rather than a retailer's private label, and ELLSI supply it through more than one stockist. The brushed brass Contra is part number PDT-000595 whichever name is on the listing, and that is the code to match when you compare one listing with another.
Will it match the brass fittings I already have?
Possibly, but check rather than assume. Brass is the least standardised finish there is: one maker's brushed brass leans yellow, another's leans bronze, and side by side the difference shows. If you are pairing it with handles, a light or a sink from another brand, compare them in daylight rather than trusting two photographs.
What do I need to fit it?
One tap hole - it sits on a 54 mm base, so it usually goes straight in where a mono mixer was. In the box are the tap, a pair of 600 mm G 1/2 inch flexible tails and a fixing kit. A waste is not included. Allow for the 520 mm height under any wall cabinet or window.
How do I clean a brushed brass spring tap?
Damp cloth and a dry-off, wiping along the grain, with mild washing-up liquid if needed. Never descaler, limescale remover, bleach or abrasive pads - on a coated finish the damage spreads unevenly and cannot be polished out. In a hard-water area, run a dry cloth down the coil after heavy use so scale does not settle between the turns.
