Brushed Steel Pull Out Kitchen Tap – Flexible Spring Neck, Commercial-Style Spray

Brushed steel is the finish the spring-neck design grew up in. Over a stainless sink, beside a stainless hob and appliance handles, the Contra looks like part of the same set — the commercial-kitchen look, softened by a brushed grain instead of bright chrome. This brushed steel pull out kitchen tap stands 520 mm tall, so it suits an open sink run where it has room to be seen.

ELLSI call the neck spring-flexi: a hose inside an open coil that bends with you when you lift the spray head out of its side-arm holder. That makes it a properly flexible kitchen tap — aim it into the corners of the bowl, across a large roasting tin or into a bucket on the drainer, then let it settle back. A switch on the head changes stream to spray, and one quarter-turn lever does the rest.

The finish is brushed steel over a body of brass, stainless steel and zinc, so it matches stainless in tone without being a solid stainless casting. A 35 mm ceramic cartridge and a flow straightener do the work inside. It fits Irish kitchens on a single tap hole with no change to the pipework.

Pressure decides whether it suits you: the Contra wants 1 bar minimum, up to 3 bar, and ELLSI mark it unsuitable for gravity-fed systems, so it needs a combi boiler or pressurised mains. Allow 520 mm of clear height above the worktop as well.

Features & Benefits

  • Brushed steel finish – matches stainless sinks and appliances, and the grain diffuses water marks that polished chrome shows.
  • Spring-flexi neck – an open coil around the hose that bends with you and springs back.
  • Side-arm holder – parks the spray head securely between uses.
  • Dual-function head – a full stream for filling, a spray for rinsing.
  • Single quarter-turn lever – quick, one-handed control.
  • 35 mm ceramic cartridge – a long-lasting, drip-free seal.
  • Flow straightener outlet – a tidy stream into a shallow bowl.
  • 195 mm to the outlet, 220 mm reach – and the pull-out head covers anything taller.
  • One tap hole, deck mounted – 600 mm G ½" flexible tails included.
  • 2 year manufacturer guarantee – handled here in Ireland.

Why Choose a Brushed Steel Pull Out Kitchen Tap?

Because it blends into a stainless kitchen while still giving you the spring-neck shape. Chrome on a coil this size behaves like a mirror and shows every splash; a brushed surface scatters the light, so the same marks barely register. Clean it with warm soapy water and a soft cloth, wiping along the grain, and keep scouring pads away from it — they cut across the brushing and leave marks that catch the light.

If 520 mm is more tap than the space needs, the Cato in brushed steel is a lower pull-out with the spray head built into a curved spout. For a fixed spout, the Tivoli in brushed steel and the twin-lever Stroud in brushed steel both need 1 bar as well; on a gravity-fed supply the Adria in brushed steel runs from 0.5 bar. For filtered boiling water in the same finish, see the brushed steel boiling water tap. The Contra is also made in matt black and brushed brass.

FAQ
Does it work with low water pressure?
No - it needs at least 1 bar and is rated to 3 bar, and ELLSI mark it unsuitable for gravity-fed systems. A combi boiler or pressurised mains drives it properly. On a gravity-fed cylinder, the Adria in brushed steel runs from 0.5 bar. Not sure which you have? Our water pressure guide explains how to tell.
Is it made of stainless steel?
The finish is brushed steel, and ELLSI list the body as brass, stainless steel and zinc. That is the same construction ELLSI list for the Cato in brushed steel, so neither is solid stainless. In tone, it matches stainless sinks and appliances.
Listings quote different tail lengths - which should I plan for?
Plan for 600 mm. Some listings for the ETAL-badged Contra give 400 mm tails; ELLSI's own datasheet for the Contra lists 600 mm flexible tails with G 1/2 inch connections, an 8 mm bore and a 12 mm outer diameter, and we work from the manufacturer's sheet. ETAL is ELLSI's trademark and the part number, PDT-000593, is the same either way. If your isolation valves sit unusually far below the worktop, measure before fitting.
Will a big pot fit under it?
The outlet sits 195 mm above the worktop with a 220 mm reach. A pot standing in the bowl also gains the depth of the sink, and anything too wide for the bowl can be filled on the drainer by lifting the spray head out to it - which is the point of a pull-out. Our kitchen setup guide shows how to measure the two numbers that decide it.
What is in the box, and will it fit my sink?
The tap, a pair of 600 mm flexible tails and a fixing kit. It mounts through one tap hole on a 54 mm base, so it is normally a direct swap for a mono mixer. A waste is not included. Check you have 520 mm of clear height above the deck.
Spring neck or a standard pull-out - which suits me?
A spring neck is taller and more open, with the head parked on a side arm, and it suits a large single bowl or an island where the tap can be a feature. A standard pull-out like the Cato is lower, with the head built into a curved spout, and sits more quietly under wall cabinets. If you want the coil in polished chrome, the Deva Spring is a pull-down rinser in that style.
