Frequently Asked Questions

Why do bathroom radiator pipes look so untidy?
Because in most Irish homes the copper tails were cut and soldered on site, then never covered. In a tiled bathroom that bare pipe and the gap where it meets the floor is at eye level when you are sitting down. Enzo chrome pipe covers and collars or the matt black version clip over 15 mm pipe and hide both, in about five minutes per radiator.
Should I fit a thermostatic valve in a bathroom?
Usually yes, with one caveat. A thermostatic radiator valve stops the bathroom overheating and cuts fuel use. The exception is a room containing the main room thermostat, where a TRV can fight the boiler control. In a typical Irish bathroom with a towel radiator, a TRV is the right choice.
Can I match heating fittings to matt black or brushed brass bathroom taps?
Yes. Valves and pipe covers come in chrome, matt black, anthracite and brushed brass, so the radiator stops being the one chrome object in an otherwise black bathroom. Pair them with our matt black bathroom taps or chrome bathroom taps, and matching wastes.
What is a flow diverter and do I need one?
A flow diverter pushes incoming hot water further along the radiator instead of letting it short-circuit straight to the outlet. It helps when a radiator is hot at one end and cool at the other despite being properly bled and balanced. It is a cheap thing to try before assuming the radiator is undersized.
Do these fit standard Irish pipework?
Yes - everything here is for 15 mm copper pipe with 1/2 inch radiator connections, the domestic standard in Ireland. Check whether your existing valves are angled or straight before ordering, and measure the pipe if you suspect 10 mm microbore. Free delivery on Irish orders over €100.
