Waterfall Taps

Waterfall Taps for Modern Basin and Bath Designs in Ireland

A waterfall tap is a basin or bath mixer with an open-cascade spout, where water flows out as a wide, flat sheet instead of through a closed aerator. The effect is clean and eye-catching, making waterfall taps a strong choice for modern Irish bathrooms, ensuites and feature basin areas.

IrishBath stocks waterfall taps for both basins and baths, including the Spear waterfall basin mixer in matt black, the Kinlin waterfall basin mixer in brushed brass and the Kinlin Chrome waterfall bath shower mixer. Choose polished chrome for the easiest match, matt black for a strong modern contrast, or brushed brass for a warmer premium finish.

The trade-off worth knowing

An open cascade has no aerator, so it splashes more readily than a closed spout. A waterfall basin mixer works best over a deeper counter-top basin or a square inset bowl; a shallow semi-recessed sink is where people notice the difference. The cascade also needs pressure behind it to stay clean and unbroken, so check the bar rating on each product page before choosing on looks alone.

Most models here are mono basin mixers, with Kinlin Waterfall bath shower mixer options in matt black, chrome and brushed brass so the same style carries from the basin onto the bath. Each model is solid brass or stainless steel with a ceramic disc cartridge.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a waterfall tap and what is the catch?

A waterfall tap delivers water as an open, flat cascade rather than through a closed nozzle. The main trade-off compared with a standard tap is splash, because the spout does not usually have an aerator. A waterfall basin mixer works best with a deeper counter-top basin or square inset bowl, while shallow semi-recessed sinks may splash more easily. Waterfall taps also need enough pressure to create a clean cascade, so always check the pressure rating before ordering.

Which waterfall finish suits an Irish bathroom best?

Matt black is a popular choice for modern Irish bathrooms because the open cascade is highly visible against the dark spout. The Spear Matt Black and Kinlin Matt Black models are strong options for this look. Polished chrome, including Spear Chrome and Kinlin Chrome, is the safest match for classic family bathrooms. Kinlin Brushed Brass adds a warmer premium finish for feature bathrooms.

Can I get a waterfall tap for the bath as well as the basin?

Yes. The Kinlin Waterfall Bath Shower Mixer is available in polished chrome, and the Kinlin Waterfall Bath Shower Mixer is also available in matt black. These bath shower mixers carry the same waterfall-style cascade design into the bath area, helping you match the basin and bath taps in one bathroom. They include the bath tap body, handheld shower, flexible hose and wall bracket. If you only need a bath tap without a shower attachment, browse our bath filler taps.

Will a waterfall tap work on Irish low-pressure gravity-fed water?

Waterfall taps need enough pressure to create a clean, unbroken cascade. Many models are better suited to mains-pressure, pressurised or combi-boiler systems, while older gravity-fed Irish homes can be borderline depending on the tank height and tap model. Every waterfall tap on IrishBath lists its pressure rating on the product page. If you are unsure, the Spear Chrome is a good model to check, or message us with your boiler and water system details before ordering.
