Toilet Roll Holders
Toilet Roll Holders Ireland — Solid Brass, Square, Wall Mounted
Toilet roll holders from the Kartell K-Vit Premium range, in polished chrome, matt black and brushed brass. The same square geometry runs across the range: a flat wall plate, a straight 152 mm arm and a right-angled open return, with no curves anywhere.
It is a small object that gets handled several times a day, so the things that matter are unglamorous — whether the arm is long enough for a full roll to turn, whether the return is open or sprung, and whether the body is metal or plated plastic. Each is covered below.
The range at a glance
| Finish | SKU | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| Polished chrome | ACC302 | The forgiving choice — joins the chrome most bathrooms already have |
| Matt black | ACC312 | A black scheme with other black pieces already in the room |
| Brushed brass | ACC332 | Warm-toned rooms — the finish that needs the most company |
The finishes share the same dimensions: 152 mm arm, 107 mm wide, a slim 20 mm wall plate, 0.33 kg, and a 2-year Kartell guarantee.
Choosing a toilet roll holder
Take the finish from the taps, not from the accessories. This is the rule that holds up. Chrome is the safe answer when the room already has chrome or stainless in it — shower hose, bath screen, waste plate. Matt black needs at least one other black element nearby or it reads as something left behind. Brushed brass needs the most company of all: a single brass holder in an otherwise chrome cloakroom looks like an accident rather than a decision.
Solid brass matters more here than on almost any other accessory. The arm takes a sideways yank every single time paper is torn off. Plated plastic versions crack at exactly that point, and plated finishes chip there too, exposing a bright edge that cannot be touched up. These are solid brass through the body, which is why they have real weight in the hand.
Open return, not sprung. The square return means the roll slides on and off with nothing to fight and nothing to snap. Sprung arms are the part that fails first on cheaper holders, usually a year or two in.
They are screw-fixed, not adhesive — and that is deliberate. Adhesive pads cope poorly with repeated sideways pull, which is precisely the load a roll holder gets. If drilling is genuinely not an option, our adhesive wall hooks are the no-drill fitting in the same finishes, though a hook holds a towel rather than a roll.
Where to mount it
Worth getting right, because moving it later means filling holes in tile. The convention that works: roughly 65–70 cm from the floor and 20–30 cm forward of the front edge of the bowl, on whichever side is easier to reach seated. Too far back and you twist for it; too far forward and it catches a knee.
On a tiled wall, drill slowly with the right bit and start the hole with a piece of masking tape over the glaze so the bit does not skate. A cracked tile costs considerably more than the holder.
Caring for the finish
Soft damp cloth, then dry it. Mild soapy water at most. Never bleach, limescale remover, abrasive cream or a scouring pad.
This matters more on a roll holder than elsewhere, because it sits close to the toilet and catches whatever is being used to clean around it — that is the commonest way these finishes get damaged. On the matt black and brushed brass the coating is lacquered, and once the lacquer is stripped the metal beneath discolours unevenly and cannot be brought back.
Matching the rest of the room
The same square K-Vit language runs across the matt black and brushed brass towel rings, so a holder and a ring sit together as a set rather than as two things that happen to match. Beside the basin, the soap dispensers carry the finish further, and the 450 mm Alpha rail in chrome handles bath towels.
These finishes also run across our bathroom taps and bathroom wastes, so a whole room can be matched from one range. See everything together in bathroom accessories.
We ship toilet roll holders across the Republic of Ireland — Dublin, Cork, Galway, Limerick, Waterford and every county between — free on orders over €100, usually within 2–3 working days, with same-day Dublin collection by arrangement on stocked items.
