Brushed Brass Bathroom Taps

Brushed Brass Bathroom Taps – Gold Basin and Bath Taps on Brass Bodies

Brushed brass bathroom taps bring warmth to a room that is otherwise mostly white tile and ceramic. The finish is brushed rather than polished, so it reads as a soft, matt gold — calmer than mirror-bright gold, and much more forgiving of water marks than chrome. It suits marble and terrazzo, green and terracotta tiles, and timber vanities particularly well.

For the basin there is the Lanza, a squared single lever mono mixer with a closed spout, and the Kinlin waterfall basin tap, a rounded single lever that lets water fall in a sheet from an open spout. For the bath, the Kinlin bath shower mixer has a squared waterfall spout, separate hot and cold levers and a hand-held shower for rinsing hair and cleaning the bath. Note that it is a deck-mounted two tap hole fitting, so check your bath is drilled for it.

Match the Waste, Not Just the Tap

Most gold bathroom taps are supplied tap-only, and a chrome plug under a brass tap is the mismatch that shows most — the two sit a hand's width apart in the same bowl. Order the waste in the same finish: the brushed brass basin waste is the slotted pattern, for a basin with an overflow hole, and the brushed brass bath waste includes the overflow for the bath. If your basin has no overflow, ask us and we will check what we can source in brass.

Brushed brass accessories in the same tone help the finish feel deliberate rather than a one-off — see bathroom accessories for towel rings and roll holders to match.

Caring for Brushed Brass in a Bathroom

Bathrooms are harder on a finish than kitchens, because the cleaning products are stronger. Keep bathroom cleaner, limescale remover and bleach off the tap entirely — a damp cloth and a dry-off is all a brass bathroom tap needs, and wiping the base dry after use stops hard-water rings forming. Check the minimum pressure on each product page before ordering; a waterfall spout in particular looks its best above 1 bar.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the waste included with these taps?
No - each is supplied tap-only, which the specification table on every product page confirms. Order the waste at the same time so the finishes match. For the basin, the brushed brass basin waste is the slotted pattern, which suits a basin with an overflow hole; if your basin has no overflow, ask us and we will check what we can source in brass. For the bath, the brushed brass bath waste includes the overflow.
How many tap holes does my bath need?
Check this before ordering a bath tap, because it is the commonest fitting mistake. The Kinlin bath shower mixer is a deck-mounted two tap hole fitting with 3/4 inch threaded tails, so the bath or deck needs two holes drilled at the right spacing. The basin taps here are single tap hole mono mixers.
Which bathroom cleaners are safe on brushed brass?
Fewer than people expect. Most bathroom sprays contain acids or bleach to cut limescale and soap scum, and those are exactly what damage a brushed brass coating - often leaving a patchy, dull area that cannot be polished back. Spray cleaners onto the cloth rather than near the tap, wipe the tap itself with warm water and a soft cloth, and dry it. In a hard water area, drying the base after use prevents the white ring that tempts people to reach for descaler.
Do the Kinlin basin and bath taps match?
They share the Kinlin name, the brushed brass finish and an open waterfall spout, so they sit comfortably in the same room - but they are not identical shapes. The Kinlin basin tap is a rounded single lever, while the Kinlin bath shower mixer has a squarer profile with separate hot and cold levers. If you want the basin to echo the squarer lines, the Lanza is the square alternative.
Are gold bathroom taps going out of fashion?
Brushed brass has outlasted the trend cycle that bright polished gold went through, largely because the brushed texture reads as warm metal rather than glitz. It works especially well with natural materials - marble, timber, terracotta and green tiles - and those schemes date slowly. If you want the bathroom to feel safe for resale, keep the brass to taps and a few accessories rather than every fitting, and it reads as a considered choice.
Will it work on low water pressure?
Many Irish homes, especially older ones with a cylinder in the hot press, run on gravity-fed pressure below 1 bar. Check the minimum rating in the specification table on each product page before ordering. A waterfall spout is the one to think about most: it may be rated for low pressure, but it needs enough flow to form a clean sheet of water, and it looks its best above 1 bar.
