Brushed Brass Basin Tap – Lanza Square Body, Ceramic Disc Control

The ELLSI Lanza in brushed brass is a square basin tap built from straight lines: a square column on a rectangular base plate, a spout that projects flat from the front, and a slim rectangular lever lying along the top. The finish is soft satin rather than mirror-bright, warm where chrome is cold, and in a room that is mostly white tile and white sanitaryware it is often the only warm tone in it.

The lever is top-mounted — lift for volume, swing for temperature, one-handed. The flat blade gives more to push against than a round knob, so it can be worked with a knuckle or the back of a wet hand. A ceramic disc cartridge underneath keeps the action light and the shut-off clean rather than letting it stiffen and drip.

The body is solid brass throughout — the material as well as the colour. That matters on a brass finish more than most, because the coating is lacquered: clean it with a soft damp cloth and dry it, never with bleach, limescale remover or an abrasive pad, since stripping the lacquer lets the brass beneath discolour unevenly and it cannot be brought back. Hard water across much of Ireland makes that habit worth forming early. ELLSI back it for 2 years.

It fits a single tap hole, deck-mounted, and comes with flexible braided connectors so it drops into existing pipework. It runs from 0.5 bar to 3 bar and moves 20.8 L/min, so a gravity-fed hot press cylinder will drive it, though flow is better above 1 bar. No waste is supplied. Worth stating plainly: we stock a brushed brass basin waste in the slotted pattern only, so a basin with no overflow cannot be matched in brass — and we do not stock traps or rod-operated pop-up wastes at all.

Features & Benefits

  • Brushed brass basin tap in solid brass – brass through the body, not a coating over a softer metal.
  • Square column and flat lever – straight lines throughout, matching rectangular basins and square-edged tiling.
  • Soft satin finish – warm and low-glare, and it hides fingerprints and water spots better than polished brass.
  • Top-mounted blade lever – more surface to push against than a round knob, workable with a wet hand.
  • Ceramic disc cartridge – light action and a clean shut-off that resists the slow drip.
  • Works from 0.5 bar – runs on a gravity-fed hot press cylinder as well as combi and mains supplies.
  • 20.8 L/min flow rate – strong for a basin tap, though best above 1 bar.
  • Lacquered for a humid room – provided it is cleaned with soap and water rather than bathroom chemicals.
  • Flexible braided connectors supplied – a straightforward swap for most existing mono mixers.
  • 2-year ELLSI guarantee – guarantee terms differ by manufacturer across our catalogue rather than by quality tier; 2 years is ELLSI's standard on taps.

Why Choose the Brushed Brass Lanza Basin Tap?

Brass earns its place by being repeated — roughly three points in a room is where it stops looking like an orphan and starts looking like a scheme. It is also the finish where matching matters most, because brass tones vary noticeably between manufacturers in a way chrome does not, so buying within one range is the only reliable way to get them the same. The same square Lanza body is made in matt black and polished chrome, so the shape can stay while the finish changes.

At €69 this is the dearest basin tap in our ELLSI range, and the closest alternative is the Kinlin brushed brass waterfall at €63. That is the genuine choice to make here, and it is about shape rather than money: an open cascade spout is the more dramatic object but needs around 1 bar to look right and suits a rounded basin, while the Lanza's closed square spout suits a square basin and a room with straight edges. If the brass is not settled, the identical body in polished chrome is €59 and in matt black €64 — chrome is the cheapest of the three Lanzas. Cheaper again are the Spear chrome waterfall at €47 and the Adore Mini at €45, the latter with a waste in the box.

No waste comes with the tap. Add the brushed brass slotted basin waste if your basin has an overflow — and note that we do not stock an unslotted brushed brass waste, so a basin without an overflow cannot be matched in this finish. To repeat the tone elsewhere we stock a brushed brass towel ring, toilet roll holder and adhesive wall hooks; there is no brass towel rail, mirror or soap dispenser in the range. We deliver across the Republic of Ireland — Dublin, Cork, Galway, Limerick, Waterford and every county between — free on orders over €100 and usually within 2–3 working days, with same-day Dublin collection by arrangement on stocked items. FAQ
Will brushed brass tarnish over time?
Not if you look after the lacquer. This is a lacquered finish over solid brass, not raw brass, so it will not develop a green patina. But bleach, limescale removers and abrasive pads strip lacquer, and once it is gone the brass beneath discolours unevenly and cannot be restored. Soft damp cloth and dry it - that is the whole routine.
Is a waste included?
No, the tap is sold on its own. Pair it with the brushed brass slotted click clack waste if your basin has an overflow hole. Note that we stock the brushed brass waste in the slotted pattern only, so a basin without an overflow cannot be matched in brass. Buying tap and waste together is the easiest way to avoid a brass tap sitting above a chrome plug.
Is the ETAL version solid brass too, or a lighter body?
Solid brass, the same as this one. ETAL is ELLSI's own registered trademark rather than a cheaper sub-brand, so the body, the ceramic disc cartridge and the brushed finish are identical under either badge - part number PDT-000719. Weight is the giveaway if you are ever unsure about a brass-look tap generally: a solid brass body has real heft, where a zinc alloy or plastic-cored one feels light for its size. This one is 155 mm tall and noticeably substantial in the hand.
Does brushed brass work in a small bathroom?
It can, but it needs company. Brass reads best when something else in the room echoes it - a towel ring, a roll holder, warm-toned tiles or wood. In an otherwise all-chrome cloakroom a single brass tap looks like a leftover. We stock matching towel rings and roll holders for exactly that reason.
Square or waterfall - which should I choose?
The Lanza is a closed-spout square mono mixer: understated, splash-free and easy to live with. A waterfall like the Kinlin in brushed brass makes the tap a feature but splashes more in a shallow basin. Choose the Lanza for a family bathroom, the Kinlin when the basin is meant to be looked at.
Does it come in another finish?
Yes - the same square body in matt black at €64 and polished chrome at €59, which is the cheapest of the three. Browse all basin mixer taps to compare.
