Pressure decides more here than anywhere else in a bathroom. A wide head spreads the same flow over a larger area, so on a gravity-fed cylinder it feels weak no matter how good the fitting is. Every product page states its bar rating — check that before you look at anything else.
Slide rail shower kits
A riser rail, an adjustable bracket, a three-function handset and a flexible hose. It sets the height for different people and is the simplest way to bring a tired shower up to date without touching the plumbing — you connect it to the existing shower outlet, so no valve is included.

Thermostatic valves
A thermostatic valve holds the temperature you set even when someone runs a tap or flushes a toilet elsewhere in the house, and shuts off if the cold supply fails. That anti-scald behaviour makes it the safer choice in a family bathroom, or anywhere children or older relatives shower.
The Deva Newton concealed thermostatic valve is TMV2-approved and fits into the wall, so only the control plate shows.
Shower from the bath tap instead
If the bath is the shower, a bath shower mixer does the job with a built-in diverter and a handheld on a hose — no separate valve, no tiling work. The Chrome Victorian Tudor is the traditional option and runs from 0.5 bar; the Kinlin Waterfall is the modern one.
Matching the finish
