What is the difference between a rainfall shower head and a standard one?
A rainfall or rain head is wider and sits overhead, delivering a soft, even drench rather than a concentrated jet. It feels more like standing in rain, which is why it is popular in ensuites and renovations. The trade-off is that a wide head spreads the same flow over a larger area, so it needs decent pressure to feel strong. On a low-pressure gravity system a slide rail kit with a 3-function spray head usually gives a more satisfying shower than a large rain head.
Do I need a thermostatic shower valve?
A thermostatic valve holds your set temperature even if someone runs a tap or flushes a toilet elsewhere in the house, and it shuts off if the cold supply fails. That anti-scald behaviour makes it the safer choice for family bathrooms and anywhere children or older relatives shower. Can I get a shower head that works with my existing bath taps?
Yes, if your bath tap is a bath shower mixer rather than a plain filler. A bath shower mixer has a built-in diverter that sends water to a handheld shower on a hose. What is included in a slide rail shower kit?
A slide rail kit gives you the riser rail, an adjustable bracket, a multi-function handheld shower head and a flexible hose, so you can set the height for different people. It is the simplest way to upgrade a tired shower without touching the plumbing. We stock it in chrome and matt black. A valve is not included - you connect the kit to your existing shower outlet.
Will these showers work with Irish low water pressure?
It depends on the model, so check the rating on each product page. Handheld slide rail kits and traditional bath shower mixers such as the Chrome Victorian Tudor generally cope best with gravity-fed systems in older Irish homes. Large rainfall heads and waterfall bath mixers like the Kinlin Matt Black need around 1 bar or more to perform properly, so they suit combi boiler and pressurised mains systems. If you are unsure, message us with your boiler and hot water setup before ordering.
Which finish should I choose for a shower?
Chrome is the safest match because most existing shower hoses, wastes and bath screens are already chrome.
