Chrome Flow Diverter 15mm – Milano Radiator Accessory for Even Heat
The Milano is a small chrome flow diverter that fits between the valve and the radiator inlet. It is an unglamorous fitting that solves one specific and very common complaint: a radiator that is hot at one end and cool at the other no matter how often it is bled.
What it does is redirect incoming water further along the radiator instead of letting it short-circuit straight across to the outlet. On a wide radiator, or one where the flow and return are on the same side, that short-circuit is often why the far end never warms up. The diverter pushes the hot water past it.
It is solid brass with a chrome finish, 136 mm long and around 100 g, and it fits 15 mm compression — the Irish domestic standard for copper pipework. Milano guarantee it for 2 years. At €20 it is a cheap thing to try before concluding a radiator is undersized and needs replacing, which is the far more expensive conclusion.
Diagnose before you buy, because the wrong symptom means the wrong fix. Cold across the top with a hot bottom is trapped air — bleed it, and no diverter is needed. Cold at one end horizontally while the other end is hot is flow distribution, and that is what this addresses. Note also that fitting it means isolating and draining the radiator, unlike pipe covers which simply clip on. We do not stock radiators, bleed keys or 10 mm microbore adaptors.
Features & Benefits
- Chrome flow diverter for 15 mm valves – the standard size for Irish domestic copper pipework.
- Fixes cold ends, not cold tops – redirects water along the radiator instead of letting it short-circuit to the outlet.
- Solid brass body – corrosion-resistant in a sealed heating system, where a plated fitting would not last.
- Cheap diagnostic step – €20 to try before concluding a radiator is undersized and replacing it.
- Compression fit – no soldering, fits between the existing valve and the radiator inlet.
- Compact at 136 mm – disappears behind the radiator once fitted.
- Chrome finish – matches chrome radiator valves and pipe covers on the rare occasion it is visible.
- Works with any radiator type – panel or column, provided the inlet is 15 mm.
- 2-year Milano guarantee – guarantee terms differ by manufacturer across our catalogue rather than by quality tier.

Why Choose the Chrome Flow Diverter?
Chrome is the only finish this comes in, which matters less here than anywhere else in the catalogue — once fitted, the diverter sits behind the radiator and is essentially invisible. There is no matt black version, and there is no need for one.
At €20 it sits in the middle of our heating range. Below it, chrome radiator pipe covers and black radiator pipe covers are €6 and hide the bare copper tails — they clip on without draining anything, so they are the easy win. Above it, a full valve replacement: the ECO angled manual valve pack and straight manual pack at €20, or the thermostatic pack at €30. Since fitting the diverter means draining the radiator anyway, doing both in one go is the sensible sequence.
A thermostatic valve is the genuine alternative worth weighing: a TRV controls how much heat a room gets, while a diverter changes how evenly a single radiator distributes it. They fix different complaints, and if the room is simply too cold rather than unevenly warm, the valve is the better €30. We do not stock radiators themselves, bleed keys or microbore adaptors. We deliver across the Republic of Ireland — Dublin, Cork, Galway, Limerick, Waterford and every county between — free on orders over €100, typically in 2–3 working days, with same-day Dublin collection by arrangement on stocked items.
