Product description

Brushed Brass Kitchen Tap – Cato Pull Out Spray, Warm Gold Finish

The ELLSI Cato in brushed brass is a tall curved brushed brass kitchen tap with a pull-out spray head. The finish is a soft satin gold rather than a mirror — warm where chrome is cold, and in a kitchen of white units and pale worktops it is usually the only warm metal in the room. That is the whole argument for it.

The head pulls out of the spout on a braided hose and returns under its own weight, with two modes on a button: an even stream for filling and a spray for rinsing. The spout swivels a full 360° and stands 400 mm tall with a 205 mm reach, so it covers both bowls of a double sink and swings clear when you need the worktop.

The body is stainless steel under the finish, not plated zinc, and the brass coating is lacquered rather than raw — so it will not develop the green patina untreated brass does. The lacquer is the thing you are protecting. Across Ireland, where hard water runs through much of the midlands and east, a soft cloth and drying after use does more for a gold kitchen tap than any cleaner. ELLSI back it for 5 years.

One thing to check before ordering. This pull out kitchen tap needs 1 bar minimum, because the spray head restricts flow. Combi boilers and pressurised mains are fine; an older gravity-fed cylinder in the hot press often sits below that and the tap will feel weak. It takes a single 35 mm tap hole and comes with flexible tails. No waste is supplied, and we do not stock kitchen sink wastes, strainers or traps at all.

Features & Benefits

  • Brushed brass kitchen tap in a warm satin gold – low-glare rather than mirror-bright, and usually the only warm metal in the room.
  • Lacquered finish over stainless steel – will not patinate like raw brass, and the body underneath is steel rather than plated zinc.
  • Pull out spray head on a braided hose – reaches into both bowls, a draining board or a bucket on the floor.
  • Two spray modes on a head-mounted button – an even stream for filling, a spray for rinsing plates and vegetables.
  • 360° swivel spout – covers a double sink and swings clear of the bowl.
  • 400 mm tall with a 205 mm reach – fills a stockpot without tilting it.
  • Single-lever ceramic disc cartridge – light action, clean shut-off, no slow drip.
  • Hides fingerprints – a brushed surface shows marks far less than polished brass or chrome.
  • Flexible tap connectors supplied – a direct swap for most existing mono mixers.
  • 5-year ELLSI guarantee – more than double ELLSI's standard 2 years on taps. Guarantee terms differ by manufacturer and by range rather than by quality tier.

Why Choose the Brushed Brass Cato Kitchen Tap?

Brass earns its place by being repeated. One gold tap in an otherwise chrome kitchen reads as an accident; the same tone picked up in cabinet handles, a pendant light or a warm-toned splashback reads as a decision. It is also the finish where matching matters most, because brass tones vary noticeably between manufacturers in a way chrome does not. The same Cato body is made in polished chrome, matt black and brushed steel — all four are the same tap underneath, and the price difference is the finishing process rather than the hardware.

Brushed brass sits at the top of the Cato range, with polished chrome the cheapest of the four. If a pull-out hose is not what you need, the genuine alternative is a fixed mono mixer: the Tivoli in brushed brass is the same finish with a swan neck instead of a spray head, costs a good deal less and runs on far lower pressure — worth knowing if your supply is marginal. Going the other way, the Deva Spring is a pull-down rather than a pull-out and carries a 12-year guarantee; our pull-out vs pull-down guide works through which suits which sink.

No waste is needed or supplied — kitchen sink wastes, strainers and traps are not part of our range, and a tap change reuses what is already fitted. We deliver across the Republic of Ireland — Dublin, Cork, Galway, Limerick, Waterford and every county between — free on orders over €100 and typically within 2–3 working days, with same-day Dublin collection by arrangement on stocked items. FAQ
Will a brushed brass kitchen tap tarnish or wear?
Brushed brass here is a lacquered finish over a solid body, not raw brass, so it does not develop the green patina untreated brass does. The lacquer is what you are protecting: wipe with a soft damp cloth and dry, use mild soapy water at most. Never bleach, limescale remover or an abrasive pad - those strip lacquer and once it is gone the brass underneath will discolour unevenly.
Is a pull-out spray worth the extra over a fixed spout?
It depends how you use the sink. If you rinse baking trays, wash vegetables or clean the bowl itself, the hose earns its cost quickly. If you mainly fill the kettle and wash up in a bowl, a fixed mono mixer like the Tivoli in brushed brass does the same job for a third less, with fewer moving parts.
What pressure does it need?
Pull-out taps need more pressure than fixed ones because the spray head restricts flow, so around 1 bar minimum. Older Irish homes on a gravity-fed cylinder can sit below that. If your hot water comes from a cylinder in the hot press rather than a combi boiler, check the head height, or consider a fixed mono mixer instead - the Walton works from 0.3 bar.
Does it come in other finishes?
Yes, the same Cato body is available in polished chrome, matt black and brushed steel. Chrome is the cheapest and the easiest to match to existing fittings; black hides water spots best; brushed steel is the one that matches a stainless sink and appliances.
If the same tap is sold under the ETAL badge, who honours the guarantee?
We do. ELLSI Limited manufactures this tap and sells it under both its own name and ETAL, its registered trademark, so the 5-year manufacturer guarantee sits behind either badge. What matters is where you bought it: a guarantee claim follows your receipt, so you come to us and we deal with ELLSI. Your statutory rights under Irish consumer law rest with us as the retailer regardless. There is nothing to chase with another shop.
Will it fit my sink, and what is included?
It fits a standard single 35 mm tap hole, so it is usually a direct swap for an existing mono mixer. Supplied with flexible tap tails and a fixing kit; a waste is not included and kitchen wastes are not currently part of our range. Most competent DIYers fit one in under an hour with isolating valves already in place.
