Product description

Stroud Chrome Kitchen Mixer Tap – Twin Lever Control, Squared Spout

Sold as the Stroud and made by ELLSI as the Eben, this is a kitchen mixer tap with a squared L-shaped spout and two slim quarter-turn levers. Chrome is the finish that asks the least of a room: most Irish kitchens already have chrome or stainless somewhere in the sink, hob or appliance handles, so the tap joins the scheme instead of committing you to one.

Twin levers give you a hot side and a cold side rather than blending both on one handle. On the Eben the squared body keeps that traditional arrangement looking current, which is the reason to choose it over a rounded pillar-style pair.

Each lever runs on a quarter-turn ceramic disc cartridge — ninety degrees from off to full, with no washer to perish and nothing to tighten down on. The spout swivels a full 360°, so it clears a second bowl or swings back out of the way.

Check your water pressure first: the Eben needs 1 bar minimum and is not suitable for gravity-fed systems. If your hot water comes from a cylinder in the hot press rather than a combi boiler or pressurised mains, choose one of the low-pressure alternatives linked below. It stands 330 mm tall with a 200 mm spout reach.

Features & Benefits

  • Polished chrome finish – matches the widest range of existing sinks, hobs and handles, and is the easiest finish to replace later.
  • Twin lever control – separate hot and cold, each a quarter turn from off to full.
  • Quarter-turn ceramic discs – smooth, drip-free operation with no washers to perish.
  • Squared L-shaped spout – architectural lines with generous clearance for filling tall pots.
  • 360° swivel spout – clears a second bowl or swings back against the splashback.
  • Solid brass body – substantial in the hand and built for daily use.
  • Flow straightener – a controlled stream with less splashing in a shallow sink.
  • Deck mounted, single tap hole – usually a direct swap for an existing mono mixer.
  • Flexible tap tails included – 600 mm hoses supplied, ready to connect.
  • 2 year manufacturer guarantee – handled by us here in Ireland.

Why Choose a Chrome Kitchen Mixer Tap?

Because it is the decision you are least likely to regret. Chrome sits alongside stainless sinks, chrome bath screens and the appliance handles most kitchens already have, so nothing has to be replaced to make it work. It also costs less to change your mind about later than a finish you have matched a whole room to.

The honest drawback is water spotting. Polished chrome behaves like a mirror, so every splash shows until it is wiped. If that would bother you daily, matt black hides it far better and brushed brass falls between the two.

If you want one-handed control instead of twin levers, the Tivoli Chrome is a single lever swan neck at a lower price and works from 0.5 bar. For a pull-out spray, see the Cato Chrome. Kitchen sink wastes are not part of our range, so a waste is not included and an existing one is normally reused.

FAQ
Will it work with my water pressure?
Only on a pressurised system. The Eben needs 1 bar minimum and is not rated for gravity-fed water, so a cylinder in the hot press rather than a combi boiler rules it out. The Tivoli Chrome works from 0.5 bar and costs less, which makes it the sensible substitute on an older system.
Is the chrome the same tap as the brushed brass, or a different body?
Identical body, different surface. ELLSI makes one Eben casting and finishes it three ways, so the chrome, matt black and brushed brass versions share the same dimensions, the same ceramic discs and the same 600 mm tails - only the coating differs. The part numbers run in sequence: PDT-000402 chrome, PDT-000403 matt black, PDT-000404 brushed brass. ETAL, which is ELLSI's own trademark, lists them the same way under the Stroud name. That matters if you are matching a tap you already own in another finish: the shape will line up exactly, and only the colour will read differently.
Chrome, black or brass - which should I pick?
Chrome if the kitchen already has stainless or chrome in the sink, hob or handles, because it blends rather than commits. Matt black if you want the tap to be a deliberate feature and you would rather not see water spots. Brushed brass if something else in the room already carries a warm tone. Chrome is also the cheapest to change your mind about later.
Does polished chrome show water marks?
Yes, more than any other finish we sell - it behaves like a mirror, so every splash shows until wiped. The compensation is that chrome tolerates cleaning products that would ruin a matt or lacquered surface, so a quick wipe with whatever is under the sink will not do it any harm. If constant spotting would irritate you, black or brushed brass hide it far better.
Twin lever or single lever?
Twin levers separate hot and cold, which suits anyone who prefers that arrangement or has a more traditional kitchen. A single lever controls both together and can be worked one-handed while you are holding something. The internals are the same quarter-turn ceramic discs, so this is a preference rather than a quality question.
Will it fit my sink, and what is included?
Deck mounted into a single tap hole, so normally a direct swap for an existing mono mixer. Supplied with two 600 mm flexible tails and a fixing kit; no waste, and kitchen sink wastes are not part of our range. Allow 330 mm of clearance above the worktop, especially under a window that opens inwards.
