Inline Water Filter Kit for Boiling Water Taps – Carbon Cartridge, Housing and Wall Bracket
The part that keeps a boiling tap tasting right and stops the tank scaling up. This inline water filter is the complete assembly ELLSI supplies with its 3 in 1 and 4 in 1 systems — cartridge, housing, connectors, tubing and bracket — so it works either as a like-for-like replacement or as a first-time install where a filter was never fitted.
The carbon rod element does two separate jobs. It adsorbs chlorine, odour, dirt and fine particles, which is what you taste in a cup of tea made from unfiltered mains water. And it takes out calcium and magnesium — the hardness minerals — so scale cannot bond to the heating element inside the tank. The second job is the one that matters financially: the cartridge is a consumable, the tank is not, and a scaled element is what shortens a boiling tap's life.
Fitting is deliberately undramatic. The housing mounts to the cupboard wall on the supplied bracket and takes ¼in push-fit connectors, with a quarter-turn cap and a screw-fit cartridge — so future changes are a twist by hand rather than a plumbing job. It goes inline on the cold feed ahead of the tank, never on a hot line: the cartridge is rated to 38°C and 0.4 MPa, comfortably above the 1–3 bar these systems run at. A metre of ¼in tubing is included, certified to NSF/ANSI 42, 58 and 61.
Two figures to check before ordering. The assembly stands 302.8 mm tall and Ø67.4 mm at the collar, and it needs that height on a cupboard wall plus clearance underneath to twist the cartridge free of the head. And it is built for the ELLSI filter circuit — see the compatibility list in the specification, which covers the badges this same system is sold under.
Features & Benefits
- Complete inline water filter kit — cartridge, housing, connectors, tubing and wall bracket, not a bare cartridge.
- Activated carbon rod element that adsorbs chlorine, odour, dirt and fine particles before the water reaches the tank.
- Scale protection for the tank element — removes calcium and magnesium so hardness cannot bond to the heater, which is what preserves tank life.
- Fits 3 in 1 and 4 in 1 boiling taps across the badges ELLSI supplies, so the tap on your sink does not have to say ELLSI on it.
- ¼in push-fit connectors with a quarter-turn housing cap — no tools, no thread tape, no draining the system down.
- Screw-fit cartridge so the housing stays mounted and only the element is changed next time.
- Rated 3.5 l/min at up to 0.4 MPa, which covers the 1–3 bar these tap systems are designed for.
- Wall bracket included — the assembly hangs clear of the cupboard base, away from the waste trap.
- 3–6 month replacement cycle depending on water hardness, so it is easy to plan for.
- Long-life plastic housing with a 2 year guarantee, and 1 m of NSF/ANSI certified tubing supplied.

Why Keep a Spare Filter On Hand?
Because the symptom that tells you the filter is spent is a cup of tea that tastes of the mains, and by then the tank has already been running unprotected for a while. A boiling tap holds water at temperature continuously, so the element is in contact with whatever comes through the filter every hour of the day. Changing the cartridge on schedule is the whole of the maintenance, and it is the difference between a tank that lasts and one that furs up.
Water hardness decides where in the 3–6 month window you land. Much of the east coast and the midlands runs hard, so if you are in Dublin, Kildare or Meath, plan on three or four months rather than six. Nothing dramatic happens if you run past it — the water simply reverts to tasting untreated and scale begins to build — but the cost of a cartridge is trivial next to the cost of a tank.
This is the filter supplied with our boiling tap systems in polished chrome, matt black and brushed brass — the filter is identical across all three, because it lives in the cupboard rather than on the sink. It also fits the wider family of taps ELLSI builds under other names. If you are unsure whether it suits the tap you already own, send us the part code from the tank or the filter head and we will confirm before you order.
