Matt Black Instant Hot Water Tap – 3 in 1 with 2.4 Litre Tank and Filter
The matt black version has one advantage the chrome does not: the tank is black too. Every system of this type hides a dark plastic tank in the cupboard, so with a black tap the visible half and the working half finally read as one product rather than two things that happen to be plumbed together. Open the cupboard door and it looks deliberate.
Function is identical to the rest of the range. The left lever draws filtered water at up to 98°C; the right is an ordinary hot-and-cold mixer. Kettle, filter jug and tap collapse into a single fitting in a single tap hole, and the worktop gets an appliance back.
Matt black asks something in return, and it is worth knowing before you buy. This is a coated finish, and the products people reach for around a hot tap — limescale remover, descaler, bleach-based sprays — are precisely the ones that dull it permanently. A damp cloth and a dry-off is the whole routine. In a hard water area the payoff is that black hides the white spotting chrome shows constantly.
Three checks before ordering, same for every tap in this range. The tank is 330 mm tall and needs a 13A socket in the sink cupboard. The filter needs 310 mm of wall beside it. And the tap wants 1 bar minimum, so a gravity-fed cylinder in the hot press will not drive it.
Features & Benefits
- Matt black tap with matching black tank — the only finish in the range where the visible and hidden halves coordinate.
- 3 in 1 operation — filtered boiling on the left lever, standard hot and cold on the right, one tap hole.
- Adjustable 75–98°C from a touch-screen control on the tank, so green tea and pasta water both get the right temperature.
- 2.4 litre capacity — around ten mugs in succession before the tank reheats.
- Carbon filter supplied, 3.5 l/min, cutting chlorine taste and slowing scale.
- Boiling lever kept separate from the everyday mixer, so it is not something you turn on by reaching across.
- Hides water spotting far better than a polished finish — the practical case for black at a busy sink.
- 1.5 kW element on a standard 13A plug, 2.2 W standby, no hard wiring.
- 201 mm spout reach at 260 mm height, swivelling clear of a double bowl.
- 2 year manufacturer guarantee on tap and tank, handled here in Ireland.

Why Choose a Matt Black Boiling Water Tap?
Because black is the finish that makes a kitchen look decided. Against a white quartz worktop it reads as a deliberate dark line; alongside black cabinet handles, a black sink or dark appliances it ties the run together. On a tap this tall — 358 mm to the top of the spout — the shape is a feature whether you want it to be or not, so it may as well be one you chose.
There is a practical argument as well. A boiling water tap gets handled far more than an ordinary mixer, several times a day, and polished chrome shows every one of those touches until it is wiped. Matt black simply does not register them the same way.
The trade-off is cleaning products, and it is a real one on this particular tap. Boiling water and hard water make scale, scale makes people reach for descaler, and descaler is what kills a matt finish. Keep it to a damp cloth, change the filter on schedule so scale never builds up at the spout, and the finish will outlast the guarantee.
Prefer something brighter? The same system comes in polished chrome. If a boiling tap is more appliance than you need, the Stroud in matt black is a conventional twin lever in a similar squared style, and the Tivoli in matt black is a slim single lever that runs from 0.5 bar.
