Product description

Black Pull Out Hot Water Tap – Boiling, Hot and Cold from One Spout

Matt black is where a boiling tap stops looking like an appliance and starts looking like part of the kitchen. The Cygne is a black hot water tap that does three jobs — 98°C filtered water for drinks and cooking, everyday hot and cold, and a spray head that pulls out on a hose — through one swan neck spout in a single tap hole.

The spout stands 462 mm tall, swivels to a 207 mm reach and lets the head draw out by up to 200 mm, so you can rinse a roasting tin, wash down the bowl or fill a pot standing on the drainer. A weight on the hose under the worktop pulls the head back into place. In black, that tall curve reads as one clean dark line against a pale worktop.

The two supplies are kept apart for safety. A side lever runs hot and cold; boiling water has a separate handle that only turns while you hold its push button down, and springs back to off when you let go. The pull-out hose carries the mixed water only — boiling water comes from the tank on its own line.

Under the sink is a 1.8 litre corner tank in matt black, shaped to sit in the back corner of the cupboard. It runs from a 13A plug, holds the temperature you choose — 75, 85, 92 or 98°C — and shows filter life on its push-button display. The tank is WRAS approved (No. 250604707), and a carbon filter in line before it takes out the chlorine taste.

One check before you order: the tap needs 1 bar minimum and up to 3 bar, so it suits a combi boiler or pressurised mains, not a gravity-fed cylinder in the hot press.

Why Choose a Matt Black Hot Water Tap?

Because the tap you use most in the kitchen should look the part. A black boiling tap ties in with a black sink, black handles or a dark worktop, and matt black hides the water marks a busy sink leaves. Treat the coating gently: a soft damp cloth and a dry-off, never bleach, limescale remover or an abrasive pad.

For a fixed spout and a larger 2.4 litre tank, see the Elise 3 in 1 in matt black. If you only want the spray head, the Cato in matt black is a pull-out mixer and the Contra in matt black puts one on a tall spring neck. The Cygne also comes in polished chrome and brushed brass. FAQ
Is it safe with children in the house?
It is built with that in mind. Boiling water needs two actions - hold the push button on the boiling handle, then turn it - and the handle springs back to off the moment it is released. You can also set the tank to 75°C instead of 98°C. It still dispenses water that scalds, so treat it with the same care as a kettle and keep small hands away from the spout.
How many cups before the tank needs to recover?
The tank holds 1.8 litres, which is roughly seven mugs in a row before the 1.5 kW element has to heat a fresh fill. For most households that covers a round of tea and the pasta pot. If you regularly need more in one go, the Elise in matt black uses a larger 2.4 litre tank.
Why does the box say ELLSI when I searched for ETAL?
ETAL is ELLSI's own registered trademark, and ELLSI boiling taps are sold under both names as well as under retailers' own labels. The tap and tank are the same whatever the badge. The tank datasheet, guarantee and spare parts all come from ELLSI, and as the retailer we handle any guarantee claim here in Ireland. This black kit is part number PDT-001392.
What do I need under the sink?
A 13A socket within reach of the tank's 945 mm cord, the back corner of the cupboard for the corner tank - 468.6 mm tall to the top of its connections, 245 mm wide and 153 mm deep - wall space for the filter bracket, and clearance under the tap so the hose weight can travel. Leave 10 to 15 cm of air space either side of the tank. The waste trap is usually the tight spot, so measure around it first.
Will it work on a gravity-fed system?
No. It needs 1 bar minimum and up to 3 bar, which a combi boiler or pressurised mains provides. A cylinder in the hot press fed from the attic usually runs below 1 bar. Our water pressure guide shows a quick bucket test to find out.
How do I clean the matt black finish?
A soft damp cloth and a dry-off, with mild washing-up liquid if needed. Keep bleach, limescale remover, cream cleansers and scouring pads away from it - they dull a matt coating for good. Wipe the spray head face now and then, because hard-water scale settles in the nozzles first.
