Is this the right waste for my basin?
Only if your basin has an overflow hole - a small slot inside the bowl near the rim. Slotted means the waste has an opening in its side to let that overflow water reach the drain. If your basin has no overflow, you need the unslotted chrome push button instead, or water will escape through the slot. Ten seconds to check, and it is the most common ordering mistake with wastes.
Will this waste fit a tap I bought branded ETAL?
Yes, and in fact any basin tap. A waste does not connect to the tap at all - it fits the hole in the bottom of the basin, so what matters is the basin, not the tap. This one uses the standard G1 1/4 thread and a 45 mm hole, which covers most modern Irish basins. ETAL is ELLSI's own registered trademark and we supply ELLSI wastes, so the finish is made to match ELLSI and ETAL taps as a range - but even if your tap came from another maker entirely, the waste will still fit. Only the appearance needs matching.
What size is it and will it fit?
60 mm cap with a G1 1/4 threaded tail, which is the standard on most modern Irish basins. Thicker ceramic basins sometimes need the wider 70 mm version. Measure the visible hole in your basin before ordering.
How does click clack work?
Press the plug down to close it, press again to open. No rod behind the tap, no linkage underneath - which means fewer parts to seize and a cleaner look at the back of the basin. It is a straight improvement on a traditional pop-up waste with a pull rod.
Do I need a trap as well?
Usually not. The trap is the U-bend below the basin and is a separate part. Most existing traps can be reused if they are sound and the right size, and the threaded tail here fits standard Irish bottle traps and U-bends.
