Is this the right waste for my basin?
Only if your basin has no overflow hole. This waste is solid-sided, so a basin with an overflow slot near the rim needs the slotted matt black waste instead. Counter-top and vessel basins commonly have no overflow; pedestal basins usually do.
I bought the wrong ETAL waste elsewhere - can I return it to you?
No, and it is worth being straight about that. Returns go back to the shop that sold it, whichever badge is on the box - ETAL and ELLSI are the same manufacturer but the receipt decides who handles it. What we can do is help you work out which one you actually need before you buy anything else: tell us whether your basin has an overflow slot and what the hole measures, and we will point you at the right waste. Buy from us and a mistaken order comes back to us under Irish consumer law, which is simpler than posting a EUR 10 fitting across the water.
Which taps does it match?
Our matt black basin taps - the Lanza square, Spear waterfall and Kinlin waterfall. A black tap above a chrome plug is the mismatch we see most often, so buy both together.
How do I clean it?
Soft damp cloth and dry. Mild soapy water at most. Never bleach, limescale remover, abrasive cream or a scouring pad - a waste collects more cleaning product than any other fitting in the bathroom, and these will permanently dull the matt coating.
What size is it?
60 mm cap with a G1 1/4 threaded tail, the standard for most modern Irish basins. Measure the visible hole in your basin if you are unsure.
Do I need a trap as well?
Usually not. The trap is the U-bend below the basin, a separate part which we do not stock. A sound existing trap can normally be reused. See our wastes guide if you are unsure what you need.
