Product description

Chrome Ethos Basin Mixer Tap – Press Top Waste Included, Works From 0.1 Bar

The Deva Ethos is a full-size chrome basin mixer tap with a plain round column, a slim spout and a single lever on top. Nothing about it is trying to be a feature. That restraint is why it sits comfortably in a family bathroom, a rental or an ensuite without arguing with whatever is already on the wall.

The lever is tilt-and-turn: tilt for volume, turn for temperature, both with one hand. Height is 147 mm with a 101 mm reach, which clears a standard basin without overshooting the bowl and splashing. The action runs on a ceramic disc cartridge, so it stays light and stops dead rather than developing the slow drip that washer taps get after a couple of winters.

The body is solid brass under the chrome, and Deva guarantee it for 12 years — useful across Ireland, where hard water in much of the midlands and east goes through thin plating and cheap cartridges quickly. Flow is honest for a basin: 3.2 L/min at 0.1 bar, 9.2 at 1 bar, 21 at 5 bar.

The detail worth knowing before you order is that a press top waste is included, which is unusual — most basin taps, including every Ellsi tap we sell, are supplied without one. The waste in the box is the slotted type, for a basin with an overflow. If your basin has no overflow hole you need an unslotted waste instead, linked below. We do not stock traps or rod-operated pop-up wastes; a sound existing trap can usually be reused.

Features & Benefits

  • Press top waste included – slotted, chrome, matched to the tap. Most basin taps do not come with one.
  • Chrome basin mixer tap in solid brass – corrosion-resistant and heavy in the hand, not plated zinc.
  • Single-lever tilt-and-turn control – flow and temperature set with one hand.
  • Ceramic disc cartridge – light action that shuts off cleanly and resists the slow drip.
  • Works from 0.1 bar – fine on a gravity-fed hot press cylinder, not just a combi boiler.
  • 147 mm high with 101 mm reach – clears a standard basin without overshooting the bowl.
  • Flexi tails supplied – connects to existing pipework without hard-plumbing the tails.
  • Press top action – no rod or linkage behind the basin, so less to seize and a cleaner look underneath.
  • WRAS approved – meets the water regulations that apply to Irish mains supplies.
  • 12-year Deva guarantee – guarantee terms differ by manufacturer across our catalogue rather than by quality tier; Deva backs its mechanical taps for 12 years, with 2 years on labour.

Why Choose the Chrome Ethos Basin Mixer Tap?

Chrome is the finish that asks least of the rest of the room. A basin tap sits beside a mirror, a light, a waste plate and often a radiator valve, and chrome is what most of those already are. It also hides limescale better than matt black, which shows every dried droplet. The same tap is made in matt black, with a matching black waste in the box — that is the sideways move if the scheme calls for it.

At €59 with a waste included, the Ethos is better value than the sticker suggests. Below it, the Adore Mini is the cloakroom-sized version and also ships with a waste, and the Spear chrome waterfall basin mixer is cheaper again but sold without one. Above it sit the Kinlin chrome waterfall and, at the top, the chrome infrared sensor tap. The genuine alternative is a waterfall: choose one of those for the open-spout look, but only if you have around 1 bar of pressure. Choose the Ethos if your hot water is gravity-fed, or if you would rather the waste came in the box.

The supplied waste is slotted, for a basin with an overflow. If yours has no overflow hole, use the chrome unslotted basin waste instead. We deliver across the Republic of Ireland — Dublin, Cork, Galway, Limerick, Waterford and every county between — free on orders over €100 and usually within 2–3 working days, with same-day Dublin collection by arrangement on stocked items. FAQ
Slotted or unslotted - which waste comes with it?
The waste in the box is slotted, which suits a basin with an overflow hole near the rim. That covers most basins. If yours has no overflow, the slotted waste will leak air and gurgle, and you need the chrome unslotted basin waste instead. Check the basin before ordering - it is the one detail that causes returns.
Does the price really include the waste?
Yes - a chrome press top waste is supplied in the box. Most basin taps are sold without one, including every ELLSI tap we stock, so factor that in when comparing: a cheaper tap plus a separate waste often lands higher than this.
What is a press top waste?
You press the plug to close it and press again to open - no rod behind the tap, no linkage underneath. Fewer parts than a traditional pop-up, nothing to seize, and a cleaner look at the back of the basin. We do not stock rod-operated pop-up wastes at all.
Will it work on Irish low water pressure?
Yes - rated from 0.1 bar, so it suits gravity-fed cylinders in older homes as well as combi boilers, delivering 3.2 litres a minute even at that pressure. WRAS approved for mains-fed supplies. For a small basin the Adore Mini is the compact equivalent and also includes a waste.
Does it come in matt black?
Yes - the Ethos in matt black, with a matching black waste included. See all basin mixer taps to compare.
How long is the guarantee?
12 years from Deva, with 2 years on labour. Solid brass body with a ceramic disc cartridge, which is why it does not develop the slow drip that appears on cheaper taps after a couple of years.
