Adria Brushed Copper Kitchen Tap – A Copper Sink Tap for Cottage and Period Kitchens

Copper has a long history in Irish kitchens — pans on the range, pipework, kettles — and this copper sink tap leans into that. The ELLSI Adria pairs two slim levers with a tall, softly curved spout, a profile that sits naturally above a ceramic or Belfast-style sink, beside a range cooker, or in a cottage kitchen with painted timber units.

The practical case is pressure. Older houses are often still on a gravity-fed hot water cylinder, and many coloured kitchen taps need at least 1 bar to run properly. The Adria works from 0.5 bar, delivering around 7.8 litres a minute even at that pressure, so it suits the very homes a copper tap looks most at home in.

The finish is brushed copper over a solid brass body. The brushed grain gives a soft, warm glow rather than a shine, and because the colour is a factory finish rather than bare metal, it will not darken or turn green over time.

The outlet sits 255 mm above the worktop with a 230 mm reach, which clears the deep bowl of a ceramic sink and leaves room to fill a large pot upright. Each lever turns on a ceramic disc with a soft-turn action.

Making Copper Work in Your Kitchen

Copper loves a white ceramic sink, cream or sage units, open timber shelving and terracotta or encaustic tiles. It also holds its own in a darker kitchen, where it reads as a warm highlight. The one combination to think twice about is copper beside a lot of chrome — if your handles and appliances are bright silver, the copper can look like an afterthought rather than a choice.

To keep the finish right, clean with warm soapy water and a soft cloth and dry it off. Limescale remover, bleach sprays and abrasive pads will strip the colour.

Want copper in a different shape? The Tivoli in brushed copper is a single lever swan neck that also runs from 0.5 bar. The Stroud in brushed copper also has twin levers, set on a squared L-shaped spout with a PVD finish — but it needs at least 1 bar, so it suits a combi boiler or pressurised mains rather than a gravity-fed cylinder. Compare all three in copper kitchen taps.

The same Adria body is also stocked in matt black, brushed steel and brushed brass. If you prefer a warm gold to copper, see every shape in brass kitchen taps.

FAQ
Does it suit a Belfast or ceramic sink?
Very well. The tall curved spout puts the outlet 255 mm above the worktop with a 230 mm reach, which clears the deep bowl of a ceramic sink, and the warm copper sits beautifully against white fireclay. It mounts through a single tap hole in the worktop or sink deck.
Will it work in an older house?
That is what it is suited to. It runs from 0.5 bar, so a gravity-fed hot water cylinder can drive it, and it is rated up to 5 bar for combi boilers and pressurised mains too. At 0.5 bar it still gives around 7.8 litres a minute.
Is the copper solid, and will it tarnish?
The body is solid brass; the copper is a brushed finish on top. Because there is no bare copper exposed, it will not darken or turn green the way an untreated copper pan does. Keep it looking right with warm soapy water and a soft cloth, and avoid limescale remover and abrasive pads.
Why two levers instead of one?
Two levers keep hot and cold separate, which many people find easier for running cold drinking water or setting a temperature by feel. It also suits the look of a traditional kitchen, where a single lever can feel too modern.
Is a waste included?
No. A tap change usually keeps the waste and strainer already fitted to your sink. The tap comes with 1/2" BSP flexible tails and a fixing kit.
