Product description

Stroud Brushed Copper Kitchen Tap – Squared Twin Lever Mixer in PVD Copper

Copper usually turns up on curved, traditional taps. The Stroud puts it on a squared, L-shaped spout with two slim quarter-turn levers, which gives a copper finish a cleaner, more architectural look — closer to an industrial kitchen than a farmhouse one. Sold as the Stroud and made by ELLSI as the Eben, this copper kitchen mixer tap is the same body as our chrome, black, brushed steel and brass Strouds.

The finish is PVD brushed copper over solid brass. On a coloured tap that matters more than on chrome: a sprayed or lacquered copper colour can wear through at the levers, where hands touch it every day. PVD is bonded into the surface in a vacuum chamber, so it resists scratching and holds its colour at those contact points far better.

It pairs naturally with dark kitchens — charcoal, forest green, deep blue or black units — where the copper reads as warm metal against a dark ground. Black cabinet handles and a copper tap work well together; so do concrete-effect worktops and exposed brick.

One requirement to check: the Stroud needs 1 bar minimum and is not suitable for gravity-fed systems, so it is a tap for a combi boiler or pressurised mains. It stands 330 mm tall, the spout rises to 324 mm and reaches 200 mm, and it swivels a full 360°.

Living With a Copper Tap

PVD copper does not tarnish or go green, because there is no raw copper exposed. Look after it the way you would any good finish: warm soapy water, a soft cloth, and dry it off, wiping along the brushed grain. Limescale remover, bleach sprays and scouring pads are the things to avoid — even a tough finish will not thank you for them.

Copper shades vary between makers. If you are matching existing copper handles or lights, compare in daylight before deciding; a brushed copper reads deeper and redder than a polished rose gold, and noticeably lighter than an antique or oil-rubbed bronze.

The same Stroud shape is stocked in polished chrome, matt black, brushed steel and brushed brass. If your supply is gravity-fed, the Adria in brushed copper keeps the copper and the twin levers but runs from 0.5 bar, on a softer curved spout, and the Tivoli in brushed copper does the same with a single lever. FAQ
Is this the ETAL Stroud copper tap sold in the UK?
Yes - it is the same tap. ETAL is ELLSI's own trade mark, and the brushed copper Stroud sold under that badge has the same 330 mm height, 200 mm reach, PVD finish and 1 bar minimum pressure. Ours is stocked in Ireland under part code PDT-000401, so there is no cross-border delivery or customs charge to add.
Why does the PVD finish matter on a copper tap?
Because coloured finishes wear first where they are touched - the tops of the levers and the spout tip. A lacquered or sprayed colour can thin out there over a few years and show the metal beneath. PVD is bonded into the surface, which makes it much more resistant to that kind of wear and to scratches from pots and pans.
Will it work with my boiler?
With a combi boiler or pressurised mains, yes. The Stroud needs at least 1 bar and is rated to 3 bar. It is not suitable for a gravity-fed hot water cylinder, where the pressure is usually too low for it to run well.
What colours go with a copper kitchen tap?
Dark and earthy colours bring out its warmth: charcoal, forest or sage green, navy, and black. It also suits concrete-effect worktops and brick. Black cabinet handles sit well beside it; chrome handles tend to clash, so if your handles are chrome, change them or consider the chrome Stroud instead.
Does it come with everything needed to fit it?
It comes with two 600 mm flexible tails and a fixing kit for a single-hole deck mount. A waste is not included, because a tap change normally keeps the strainer and trap already in your sink.
