Product description

Antique Brass Sink Waste – 90mm Kitchen Basket Strainer in an Aged Finish

Antique brass is the darker, older-looking relative of brushed brass: a deep bronze-gold with the brightness taken out, the colour brass fittings turn after years in a farmhouse kitchen. An antique brass sink waste suits a traditional or heritage-style kitchen where a bright gold strainer would look too new.

Underneath the period look it is a modern fitting. ELLSI's Top-Fix design drops into the 90 mm sink hole from above and tightens with a single centre nut, using the 14 mm socket tool in the box. The seal is already fitted to the body, so there is no silicone to clean off the aged finish.

The flange and basket are stainless steel with the antique brass finish applied, on a polypropylene body, and the 40 mm (1 ½") outlet connects to the standard trap used under kitchen sinks in Ireland. The basket lifts out by its knob for emptying.

This is the version without an overflow connection. If your sink has an overflow hole near the rim, choose the antique brass kitchen sink waste with overflow. Check the sink is between 0.5 mm and 15 mm thick at the waste hole.

Why Choose an Antique Brass Sink Waste?

Because in a kitchen built around painted shaker doors, dark timber and aged hardware, the plughole is one more place for that patina to show. It sits well beside a traditional dual-lever tap such as the Astrid in brushed brass or the softer Astrid in pewter, and the tone carries through to details such as antique brass radiator pipe covers.

For a brighter gold, the brushed brass sink waste is the same fitting in a lighter tone; it also comes in chrome and matt black. Every version is in kitchen sink wastes.

We ship antique brass sink wastes across Ireland — Dublin, Cork, Galway, Limerick, Waterford and everywhere between — with free delivery on orders over €100 and same-day Dublin collection on stocked items by arrangement.

FAQ
Do I need the overflow version?
Only if your sink has an overflow - a small hole or slotted opening on the back wall of the bowl, just below the rim. If it does, order the antique brass waste with overflow, which includes matching covers. If the bowl is plain, this one is correct.
How does antique brass differ from brushed brass?
Antique brass is darker and browner, with a bronze cast and less shine; brushed brass is a lighter, warmer gold. Put simply, brushed brass looks new on purpose and antique brass looks as though it has been there for years. Compare the brushed brass version if you are unsure which suits your tap.
Will it fit a Belfast or butler sink?
Measure first. The waste needs a 90 mm hole and a sink no thicker than 15 mm at the waste opening. Many fireclay Belfast and butler sinks are thicker than that at the plughole, while stainless steel and most inset sinks fit comfortably.
Will the antique finish keep darkening?
It is a factory-applied finish rather than bare, unlacquered brass, so it is designed to stay the colour it arrives. What damages it is cleaning chemistry - limescale remover, bleach and scouring pads. A soft cloth and washing-up liquid are all it needs.
Searching for an ETAL antique brass waste - is this it?
This is ELLSI's Top-Fix antique brass strainer waste, code PDT-001568. ELLSI also uses its ETAL label on other ranges, so if you are matching a listing you have seen elsewhere, compare the code rather than the name on the box.
