Product description

Astrid Dual Lever Kitchen Tap – Brushed Brass, Classic Proportions

A dual lever kitchen tap gives you separate hot and cold control feeding a single spout — the traditional arrangement, without needing two tap holes drilled in the sink. The Ellsi Astrid pairs that with a tall swan neck and a warm brushed brass PVD finish.

Some people simply prefer two handles. You set hot and cold independently rather than hunting for a blend point, and the quarter-turn levers move with a positive, weighted action. The symmetry suits shaker, in-frame and period kitchens where a single lever can look out of place.

The proportions are generous. At 375mm tall with a 210mm spout reach, this brushed brass kitchen tap clears a stockpot and covers a 1.5 or double bowl comfortably — noticeably bigger than a standard mono mixer, so check your window sill clearance if the sink sits under a window.

The finish is PVD brushed brass, not lacquer. PVD bonds the colour at a molecular level, so it resists scratching, tarnishing and cleaning products far better than a lacquered coating — a meaningful difference on a tap handled several times a day. One of the better-value gold kitchen taps Ireland has online, delivered nationwide with same-day Dublin pickup.

Features & Benefits

  • Dual lever quarter-turn control — separate hot and cold handles feeding one spout, through a single tap hole.
  • PVD brushed brass finish that resists scratching and tarnishing far better than lacquered brass.
  • Tall swan neck spout, 375mm high with 240mm clearance beneath the outlet for filling tall pots.
  • 210mm spout reach — designed for 1.5 and double bowl sinks.
  • Swivel spout that turns clear of the bowl when you need the space.
  • Ceramic disc valves delivering smooth, drip-free operation.
  • Flow straightener for a clean, non-splashing stream.
  • Deck mounted, one tap hole with a compact 58mm base footprint.
  • 2 year manufacturer guarantee.

Important: pressure requirement

This tap requires a minimum of 1 bar and is not suitable for gravity-fed systems. If your hot water comes from a cylinder in the hot press rather than a combi boiler or pressurised mains, the Astrid will underperform. Many older Irish homes fall into that category — please check before ordering. If you are on gravity-fed hot water, the Tivoli Brushed Brass works from 0.5 bar and is the right choice.

Why Choose a Dual Lever Kitchen Tap?

Because some people never get on with a single lever. With one handle you are always searching for the blend point; with two you set hot and cold where you want them and leave them. It is a preference rather than a performance difference, but it is a strong one — and if you grew up with separate taps, a dual lever feels immediately right.

Visually it earns its place in kitchens where a single lever looks too contemporary. Shaker doors, in-frame cabinetry, a Belfast sink, a period house — the symmetry of two handles reads as considered there. Our other twin-handle options are the Newton in chrome and the squarer Walton, both at a lower price and both working from 0.3 bar if pressure is a concern.

If you would rather have brushed brass with single lever control, the Tivoli Brushed Brass is slimmer and cheaper, and the Cato Brushed Brass adds a pull-out spray.

We ship kitchen taps Ireland wide — Dublin, Cork, Galway, Limerick, Waterford and everywhere between — with free delivery on orders over €100 and same-day Dublin pickup available. Browse all our kitchen taps to compare.

FAQ
Is this the same as the ETAL Astrid?
Yes. ETAL is a label Ellsi supplies to certain retailers - same factory in Scunthorpe, same tap, same PDT-000585 part number. If you have seen the ETAL Astrid elsewhere and are comparing, this is the identical product. What you get from us is Irish stock, same-day Dublin collection and someone local to talk to if something goes wrong.
Will this work on my water system?
Only if you have decent pressure. The Astrid needs a minimum of 1 bar and is not suitable for gravity-fed systems - so if your hot water comes from a cylinder in the hot press rather than a combi boiler or pressurised mains, this is the wrong tap. Many older Irish homes are gravity-fed. If yours is, the Tivoli Brushed Brass works from 0.5 bar, and the Walton from 0.3 bar.
What is a dual lever kitchen tap, and does it need two tap holes?
No - and this is the common confusion. A dual lever tap has two handles for hot and cold, but they feed a single spout through one tap hole, so it fits the same sink cut-out as any mono mixer. That is different from pillar taps, which genuinely need two separate holes. If your sink has two holes, you need pillar taps instead.
What is a PVD finish, and is it better than lacquer?
Yes, meaningfully. PVD stands for physical vapour deposition - the colour is bonded to the metal at a molecular level rather than sprayed on as a lacquer coat. It resists scratching, tarnishing and cleaning products far better, and it cannot chip or peel the way lacquer eventually does. On a tap handled several times a day, that is the difference between looking new in five years and not. It is still worth avoiding abrasive pads and harsh limescale removers.
Will it fit under my window?
Check before ordering. At 375mm total height the Astrid is noticeably taller than a standard mono mixer, and the swan neck does not fold down. If your sink sits under a window that opens inwards, measure from the worktop to the underside of the opening sash. The spout swivels clear of the bowl, which helps, but the height is fixed.
How big is the spout reach?
210mm from the centre of the base to the outlet, with 240mm of clearance beneath it. It is designed for 1.5 and double bowl sinks, and leaves room to fill a stockpot or a tall watering can without tilting. The base footprint is a compact 58mm.
Why choose two handles over a single lever?
Preference, mostly. With one lever you are always hunting for the blend point; with two you set hot and cold where you want them and leave them there. The quarter-turn action is positive rather than loose. Visually, the symmetry suits shaker, in-frame and period kitchens. If you would rather have one-handed control, the Tivoli Brushed Brass is the single lever equivalent and costs less.
What else matches in brushed brass?
We stock brushed brass across the range - kitchen taps with pull-out spray, bathroom taps, basin wastes, towel rings and no-drill hooks. Brass works best when repeated at least three times in a room.
